One of my favorite parts of summer is cooking out on the grill. After a long day of playing, swimming, or gardening, it’s so relaxing to fire up the grill.

I’ve spent the last few weeks working on the small garden beside our deck. At the beginning of May, this piece of land was the resting place of old fencing, a couple of tires, and some concrete blocks. So despite the fact that it’s currently a square piece of dirt, I feel like I’ve come a long way.

Budget, budget, budget. It’s become a mantra for me and my family. Because we’ve been so focused on our financial goals these past few years, I’ve become comfortable shopping within the confines of a budget.

The kids are out of school this week. The freedom, the sunshine, and the promise of endless hours of playing have my children bouncing around the house even more than usual.

Despite the fact that Mother Nature can’t seem to decide whether it’s spring, summer, or still winter, all of the warm weather activities have started in Grant County. For my family, that means trips to the ballpark at least twice a week to watch the kids swing bats and chase after baseballs.

Another Mother’s Day has arrived, and I admit, I’m feeling pretty blessed today. Beautiful, healthy children and a loving husband are enough to swell a mom’s heart with gratitude.

I’m a big believer in making what you have last for as long as possible. That’s why you purchase for quality - you know it will save you money in the long run. But when it comes to vehicles, you’re likely going to find me looking at gently used options rather than new.
